Eat, Sleep, Create. Repeat!

Nairobi as seen from Upper Hill

I imagined myself sitting down and crafting something that is helpful to someone or even people. There is this project I have been working on for quite some time, the reason I call it project is the fact that I have never had time to finish it (That is a very lame excuse). I have been thinking, more than two weeks now, on which is the best way to actualize that project.

The problem is that I get ideas (great ideas) when I am in awkward places away from the house or somewhere I cannot write anything down. Great stuff burn inside my brain I feel nice. When I am in the house I only remember parts. If I could put stuff like that together I might help people. Question still remains, how to I get it to people?

If we have different ways people can absorb information, there must be a better way to get it in their brains. Having a good idea or a set of words that can help a person is one thing, but getting that into someone’s brain and watching it help then is another task. Either way, there must be an easier way of installing information into any working head and observe how the outcomes turn out to be.

Everyone has their own pace of digesting information. Some consume little and digest it immediately, others consume a lot and digest slowly and we have that group that consumes too much it becomes hard to digest. The value is based on the nutrients absorbed. Are you consuming something with nutrition? Are you a poor absorber? Is it just passing through your gut?

During the two weeks I mentioned when I began, I figured out, well there is a lot I know (we all have a lot we know about things) but I don’t use the same to develop the world around me. Like I always say “a lot” is relative too. I felt bad about that.

Successful people say, quit your 9 to 5 jobs and concentrate on your personal project full time. I am like where will I get the seed money? We all ask ourselves that question. They also assume we all work 9 to 5. When I asked how will I survive? (I have bills to be paid) I was told “If what you are doing is not bringing direct income, then that project is wasting your time”.

That is depressing to hear; projects take time to materialize while you are not sure what they will turn out to be.

That’s what I wanted to share with you now that we have plenty of free time. With there being need for people to remain indoors or limit their movements during this pandemic it is an opportunity to be creative wherever you are.

Don’t be afraid to fail once or twice or even several times at the end of the day you learn and get it. Show off what you have, let then criticize what you have as you improve.

  1. I couldn’t agree more! Your project will be beneficial personally and/or professionally. Also the term “successful people” is relative. There are successful people who worked their day job until their side-hustle became profitable enough to quit the 9-to-5. Everyone has their own process.

  2. Thanks for sharing, I totally agree with you!
