Dosage:

Adults:

Usually 1 capsule once or twice daily after food, or as directed by a doctor.

Side Effects:

Common:

  • Drowsiness

  • Dizziness

  • Stomach upset

  • Headache

Less common:

  • Nausea

  • Diarrhea

  • Fatigue

Rare:

  • Allergic reactions

  • Liver dysfunction (due to chlorzoxazone)

Warnings & Precautions:

  • Use cautiously in patients with liver disease.

  • May cause drowsiness, avoid driving or operating machinery.

  • Use with caution in cardiovascular disease.

  • Avoid alcohol, as it increases liver toxicity risk.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

  • Not recommended during pregnancy.

  • Contraindicated in the third trimester due to risk of premature closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus and complications during labour.

  • Use with caution during breastfeeding and only if prescribed by a doctor

Drug Interactions:

  • Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) – Increased risk of bleeding due to celecoxib.

  • Other NSAIDs or corticosteroids – Increased risk of gastrointestinal ulcer or bleeding.

  • ACE inhibitors / ARBs and diuretics – May reduce antihypertensive effect and increase risk of kidney impairment.

  • Alcohol – Increased risk of liver toxicity and CNS depression (especially due to chlorzoxazone).

  • CNS depressants (sedatives, antihistamines) – May increase drowsiness and dizziness.

  • Lithium – Celecoxib may increase lithium levels in the blood.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to celecoxib, chlorzoxazone, or NSAIDs

  • Peptic ulcer or GI bleeding

  • Severe liver impairment

  • Late pregnancy (third trimester)
