Uses:

Relieves cough and cold symptoms including:

• Chesty cough (productive cough)

• Nasal congestion

• Allergic rhinitis or post-nasal drip

• Cough associated with upper respiratory infections

Dosage:

• Adults and children ≥12 years:
  10 mL (2 teaspoonfuls) every 6 hours

• Children 6–12 years:
  5 mL (1 teaspoonful) every 6 hours

• Children 2–6 years:
  2.5 mL every 6 hours

Not recommended for children under 2 years unless prescribed. Shake well before use.

Side Effects:

Common:
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, mild abdominal discomfort

Less common:
Allergic rash, headache, blurred vision, excitation in children

Warnings & Precautions:

• May cause drowsiness – avoid alcohol and driving

• Use with caution in:

  • Asthma or chronic lung disease

  • Glaucoma

  • Enlarged prostate

  • Liver or kidney impairment

Avoid prolonged use unless directed by a doctor.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed

• Breastfeeding: May pass into breast milk; consult doctor before use

Drug Interactions:

• Increased drowsiness with:

  • Alcohol, sedatives, sleeping pills, antidepressants, antihypertensives

• Avoid with MAO inhibitors (e.g. selegiline, phenelzine)

Contraindications:

• Allergy to any component (chlorphenamine, ammonium chloride, sodium citrate)

• Severe hypertension or heart disease

• Concurrent MAOI use (within 14 days)
