Uses:

  • Allergic rhinitis (seasonal or perennial)

  • Chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives)

Dosage:

  • Children 6–11 months: 2 mL once daily (1 mg)

  • 1–5 years: 2.5 mL once daily (1.25 mg)

  • 6–11 years: 5 mL once daily (2.5 mg)

  • 12 years and older: 10 mL once daily (5 mg)

Side Effects:

  • Common: Headache, dry mouth, fatigue

  • Rare: Allergic reactions, tachycardia, elevated liver enzymes

Warnings & Precautions:

  • Use with caution in severe renal impairment

  • May rarely cause drowsiness

  • Discontinue if hypersensitivity occurs

Pregnancy & Lactation:

  • Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed (limited data)

  • Lactation: Use with caution; excreted in breast milk

Drug Interactions:

  • No significant interactions reported

  • Alcohol: No added sedation in studies, but use caution

Contraindications:

Known hypersensitivity to desloratadine or loratadine
