Presentation / Composition

Light green, circular, flat bevelled-edge peppermint-flavoured tablets.

Each tablet contains:

  • Magnesium Trisilicate 250 mg

  • Dried Aluminium Hydroxide 120 mg

Mechanism of Action

Both ingredients are antacids that neutralize gastric hydrochloric acid.

  • Aluminium hydroxide raises gastric pH slowly and reduces acidity.

  • Magnesium trisilicate neutralizes acid and may have a mild laxative effect.

  • Combination balances gastrointestinal effects, reducing constipation from aluminium and diarrhoea from magnesium.

Pharmacokinetics

  • About one-third to one-half of magnesium is absorbed from the small intestine.

  • Absorbed magnesium is excreted in urine; unabsorbed portion in faeces.

  • Small amounts cross the placenta and enter breast milk.

  • Aluminium hydroxide reacts with stomach acid to form aluminium chloride; small amounts are absorbed and excreted via urine.

  • Most aluminium remains in the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted in faeces.
