Uses:

Flatameal DS is indicated for hyperacidity, gastritis, relief of flatulence, abdominal distension and windycolic, dyspepsia and pain associated with peptic ulceration. It also relieves pain associated with reflux oesophagitis and hiatus hernia.

Dosage:

1-2 tablets of Flatameal DS to be chewed or 1-2 teaspoonful of Flatameal DS suspension one hour after meals and at bed time or as directed by the physician.

Side Effects:

Gastro-intestinal side effects are uncommon. However, occasional diarrhea or constipation may occur if use is excessive.

Warnings & Precautions:

Drugs containing aluminum hydroxide should not be taken concomitantly with any form of tetracycline, as the absorption of the later may be affected.

Aluminum hydroxide may also reduce the absorption of digoxin.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

It is wise to avoid taking antacids in the first trimester of pregnancy and during lactation.

Drug Interactions:

Tetracycline, Digoxin

Contraindications:

Flatameal DS should not be used in patients who are severely suffering from renal insufficiency or if there is severe abdominal pain and/or the possibility of bowel obstruction.
