Each uncoated tablet contains;

Paracetamol BP 350mg, Chlorpheniramine Maleate Bp 4mg, Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) BP 100mg, Excipients q.s Colour Sunset yellow FCF

Uses:

For treatments of symptoms associated with the common cold, influenza and upper respiratory tract infections such as runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, headache and fever. Severe acute asthma attack.

Dosage:

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

For adults and children older than 15 years, the recommended doses is 2 or 3 times per day. the interval has to be at least four hours between 2 doses.

Cerebral oedema: depending on the cause or severity, initial dose of 8 to 10mg or (up to 80mg) i.e followed by 16 to 24mg (up to 48mg) per day orally, divided into 3 or 4 (up to 6) individual doses for 4-8 days.

Side Effects:

Serious adverse reaction, occur, rarely with standard, recommended, regimen, blood and lymphatic system disorder; increased risk of atherosclerosis and thrombosis, vasculitis flushing urinary retention, thickening of bronchial secretions, headache, hypertension, nausea, vomiting and stomach cramps, gastrointestinal ulcers, pancreatis.

Warnings & Precautions:

Do not use any other products containing paracetamol if you are taking this product as you could exceed the recommended daily dose.

Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine, if you have kidney problem, if you have asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, hyperthyroidism and pyloroduodenal obstruction, or if you have a disposition to constipation, vertigo and urinary problems. Pregnancy & Lactation:

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, as your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Fludex-C is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

During pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, the drug should only be administered after careful benefit risk assessment. There are not known cases of harm to the infant. Nevertheless, the drug should be strongly indicated during lactation, if the diseases require higher doses, breastfeeding should be discontinued.

Drug Interactions:

Anticoagulant – the effect of warfarin and other coumarins may be enhanced by prolonged regular use of paracetamol with increased risk of bleeding. Occasional doses have no significant effect. Drugs that include CYP3A4 such as rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, barbiturates and primidone.

The effect of corticoids may be reduced. Concurrent use of chlorpheniramine, and hypnotics or anxiolytics may cause an increase in for the sedative effect, therefore medical advice should be sought before taking chlorpheniramine concurrently with these medicines. Ascorbic acid may interfere with biochemical determinations of creatinine, uric acid and glucose in samples of blood and urine. ascorbic acid increases the absorption of iron.

Known hypersensitivity to any of the excipients.

Overdose

If you have taken more Fludex-C, or it was accidentally taken by a child, seek medical advice immediately because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage. Symptoms of paracetamol overdose are nausea, vomiting and reduced appetite.
