Pregnancy: A large amount of data on pregnant women (more than 1000 pregnancy outcomes) indicate no malformative nor foeto/neonatal toxicity of desloratidine. Animal studies do not indicate direct or indirect harmful effects with respect to reproductive toxicity. As a precautionary measure, it is preferable to avoid the use of desloratidine during pregnancy.
Breastfeeding: Desloratidine has been identified in breastfed newborns/infants of treated women. The effect of desloratidine on newborns/infants is unknown. A decision must be made whether to discontinue breast-feeding or to discontinue/abstain from desloratidine therapy taking into account the benefit of breastfeeding for the child and the benefit of therapy for the woman.
